Web Content Writer’s New Best Friend : Blogging

by BloggingSetup on February 7, 2010

If you are a ghostwriter and would like to showcase your work for prospective clients, a blog is the single best way to do so. Plus if you apply Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques to draw lots of traffic to it, it can also be a source of advertising income! Let’s drill down on some of the benefits and techniques to make this an effective and lucrative marketing tool for your work:

Blogging, Blog, Web Content

  1. First of all, you can write about what you want to write about. This should really allow for all your passion and creativity to come through in your writing. The best blogs have found a niche market where people keep coming back for fresh content because of their interest in your topic of choice. You can write about the art of basket-weaving if you wanted to, and if you always had new, relevant posts, all the basket makers in the world would be reading your blog on a regular basis.
  2. There are venues that can host your blog for free, like WordPress.com. These sites are like a mall for blogs, because they have already built in the protocols for blogging formats, including the categorization of your posts and the interactive forum. The only bad thing is that your URL would have to contain the WordPress domain name. Now if you wanted to find a webhost to have your own domain, that would help bring traffic to your site because your URL would be easier to remember, and create a stronger identity.
  3. Ok now that you have a blog set up, you can then go on to use all those self-taught SEO tricks you learned from writing all those internet marketing articles. Want an easy way to get more traffic to your blog? Submit some of your blog articles to an article directory like Ezine because they always land on page 1 of a Google search. Once someone gets to your article in Ezine, they can follow your link back to your wonderful blog for more information about basket-weaving. Ta-DAH!
  4. Now let’s try to make some real money with affiliate marketing using this blog. Affiliate networks like Clickbank will let you choose the types of products you can post links for on your blog, and when your visitors leave your site for theirs, you would earn a small referral fee. The best products to market on your blog would be related to but not competing with your product. For example, your basket-weaving blog can promote special tools, or different raw material suppliers.
  5. Even easier would be to use Pay Per Click (PPC) partners like Google Adsense on your blog that would automatically post ads related to your blog’s tags.

There has truly never been a better time to be a writer. The internet has opened up a world market for our product, and the means to advertise our work cost-effectively at the same time! It has allowed us to work at home and stay close to our families, all the while doing something that we truly love. Now that’s something worth blogging about.
