Guest blogging, another strategy to bring your blog to a wider audience and build quality links, is contributing posts or articles to other blogs. From your guest post, the rule of thumb is that you get at least a link to your blog and a link to your RSS feed. You benefit from this because:
- You get quality link to your website or blog.
- You build credibility and authority by showcasing your skills and expertise.
- You drive more traffic to your blog.
- You increase your feed subscriber.
- You expose your blog or website to a broader audience.
- You build relationship with other bloggers or webmasters.
Choosing The Right Blog

While you intend to build links to your blog, you should endeavor to get the best out of it by choosing the appropriate blogs to work with. Here are some guidelines to take into account when you plan to build links by guest blogging.
- Choose a blog that is relevant to yours. Of course you want to attract people who are interested to your blog. It would be ridiculous to contribute articles on a dating blog and expect the readers to be interested in your blog when it is all about search engine optimization.
- Check the blog stats. Does the blog receive enough traffic? Does it have readership? Is it a reputable blog? Is it indexed by search engines? Does it have a Google page rank? Obviously, it is less productive to guest blog on sites that are less popular than yours.
- Are you credited for your guest post? Guest bloggers contribute articles on other blogs for free because they expect to be compensated in other ways, like promotional links to their blog or website. Now if this is not offered, do yourself a favor and never settle for anything less.
- Revenue sharing. Although this not in line with your objective of building links, you might want to look for blogs that share revenue with their guest bloggers. If you can get this deal and keep the links to your blog at the same time, then why not take advantage of it.
Guest Blogging Tips
Guest blogging is not guaranteed. You still need to get the approval from the blog owner. What can you do to make sure you obtain their approval and increase the benefits you get from your guest post?
- Quality content. The key is to build quality content. By quality I mean unique, informative, useful, timely, relevant, easy to comprehend etc.
- Do a research. The best way to create quality post is knowledge. If you have the necessary information about your topic, it would not only be easier for your to write the post but the quality is greatly improved.
