The month of March is the expected first major Google Page Rank update for this year. Based on previous trend, Google have had 4 major page rank updates last year with 3 months interval each. Although in reality, page rank updates take place regularly.
While Google page rank is considered by most bloggers and webmasters as an irrelevant factor in the computation of search engine ranking, I believe otherwise. I still think that Google page rank is vital if you want to rank high on search engines’ result pages for your targeted keywords. Also, Google page rank is one of the factors that is considered by advertisers. The higher your Google page rank, the more attractive you are to advertisers. In other words, Google page rank is important if you are monetizing your website or your blog.

In order to have a high Google page rank, a page should have links pointing to it. These links are considered as votes to that page. Therefore, the more links pointing to a page, the higher its page rank and search engine ranking. But while the quantity of links pointing to that page matters in determining its page rank, it is popularly believed that the quality and relevance of the links are given more importance. Quality of the links supersede quantity.
Despite the popularity of Google page rank, a considerable number of bloggers and webmasters swear it has no bearing in search engine rankings. Google page rank is NOT important! Well, if Google page rank is no longer important, why is Google keeping it? There should be a reason for this right? And there’s no better logical explanation other than that page rank is still a part of Google’s algorithm. It still matters in the computation for search engine ranking.
